The Grand Rapids Women's Chorus is dedicated to singing music that celebrates and honors the diversity of women's lives. Drawing on music from many cultures, the Chorus strives to educate and inspire its community to promote justice, peace, and equality.

This selection is inspired by woman warrior-writer, Ida B. Wells-Barnett and tells of her extraordinary writing and artistry and how she fought racism and oppression through literature. No, no, no!!! This song is extremely triggering for people with PTSD! This concern was brought up to this chorus and they chose to ignore it and claimed they could explain it was a “learning , healing and growing experience” . That’s the same as saying that something is racist and being told it’s ok, you can use it to help you heal 😡
